ITINERARY
DAY 1 Arrival in Dushanbe
Our team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. You have the rest of the day free to rest or explore the city.
DAY 2 City Tour
Today, we will do a city tour and visit Hissar Fortress, the Kohna Madrassah museum and nearby Seminary. We will also check out Rudaki Central Park, Independence Park and Mehrgon Green Bazaar. Dinner at a local restaurant in Dushanbe. Overnight in a hotel in Dushanbe. Overnight in Dushanbe. B,L,D
DAY 3 Drive 370 km from Dushanbe to Kalai Khumb (6 hours)
We leave early and drive on the famous Pamir Highway towards the Pamirs. The road to Kalaikhumb runs partly along the roaring Panj River (the border with Afghanistan), mighty mountain walls and over adventurous slopes. Your adventure has begun! Overnight stay in a guesthouse. B,L,D
DAY 4 Drive 177 km from Kalai Khumb to Rushan (5-6 hours)
Today is perhaps one of the most beautiful road trips you can make in Central Asia. We continue to follow the spectacular Pamir Highway. The drive from Kalai Khumb to Rushan is a scenic journey along the Pamir Highway. The road winds through stunning mountain landscapes, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Overnight in a homestay in Rushan. B,L,D
DAY 5 Rushan to Bardara (drive and trek)
Today we will drive 5 km along Panj Rivers and then our rout ewill turn left from the main road and follow the Bartang River upstream. Bartang is dotted with small villages and plots of land are carved out of the mountainsides by local farmers. Considered one of the most beautiful spots in the western Pamirs, the valley is famous for its superb hiking, hospitable villages and local musicians. In the evening, we arrive in Bardara village. Bardara is one of the oldest settlements in the Bartang Valley. In Bardara, you can get acquainted with the life of local people, try traditional dishes, and buy handmade souvenirs.
One of the unique features of the village of Bardara is seeing the three sacred trees in Bardara - a unique landmark standing 500 meters apart. According to the local legend, Nasir Khusraw, the missionary who brought the Ismaili faith to the Pamirs, planted these trees. Locals hold these trees in high regard and consider them sacred. DAY 6 Trek to Upper Bardara Village
Today we will hike to Upper Bardara village (Old Bardara). Along the way, we will visit the ice under large stones known to never melt as one of the attractions of the village. Locals use it as a natural refrigerator, storing food there for freezing to keep it fresh. Upper Bardara offers a unique opportunity for trekkers to explore the remote and stunning landscapes of the Pamir Mountains. After a 2.5-hour hike, we'll reach a picturesque spot on the Bardara River for a well-deserved break and a picnic. Refreshed, after a short lunch break, we will make our way back down to the village. DAY 7 Bardara to Roshorv (drive & trek)
We leave Bardara village and start our drive along the scenic Bartang River towards Roshorv. Perched at an altitude of 3000 meters, Roshorv is one of the largest villages in the valley and offers stunning views of the towering Lapnazar (5990m) and Bartang (5480 m) peaks. Experience the warm hospitality of the local people as they share their traditional way of life which includes farming and livestock herding. After lunch, we will hike to the viewpoint to see the Lapnazar Glacier. From there, we can see the entire village and a stunning landscape perfect for photos. DAY 8: Roshorv to Savnob
We will start our adventure today with a hike towards the enchanting village of Savnob. The trail winds along a scenic dirt road, offering breathtaking views of the valley and the snow-capped peaks in the distance. The hike is expected to take approximately 5 hours, but for those who prefer a more leisurely pace, vehicles will be available to accompany us. Whether you choose to hike or ride, you are sure to be captivated by the stunning beauty of the surrounding landscape. Savnob is a famous for its old castle, solar calendar, refuge caves, holy spring and petroglyphs. It’s possible to bathe in a small lake with mild water temperature. Overnight in a local homestay. DAY 9 Savnob to Pasor (trek & drive)
The drive and hike goes along the Bartang River. The villages offer a glimpse into traditional Tajik rural life, with their picturesque setting and friendly locals. You can explore the surrounding area between the villages that expose you to a diverse array of landscapes, including lush meadows, glacial rivers, and towering mountain ranges and peaks. Be amazed by the confluence of the Tanimas and Murgab Rivers. As you hike along the Tanimas River, you will encounter stunning landscapes. Pasor is home to the revered mausoleum of Khojai Alamdor, attracting pilgrims from far and wide seeking blessings and healing. Geological evidence suggests that the village of Pasor was once the site of a lake. The distinct outline of an ancient landslide is still clearly visible in the landscape. The hiking time will take about 5 hours. Overnight in a local homestay. B,L,D
DAY 10 Pasor to Rukhch to Barchidiv (drive & trek)
This day we will make our way back down the trail from Pasor to Rukhch. Our next destination will be the village of Barchidiv, which we will reach on foot. Barchidiv is the first village after the Legendary Sarez Lake (3300 meter above the sea level and 18 kilometers from the village). The area surrounding Barchidiv village and Sarez Lake offers breathtaking scenery and opportunities for outdoor activities such as trekking, mountaineering, and wildlife observation. Our trek and drive will take about 6 hours. Overnight in a local homestay. B,L,D
DAY 11 Barchidiv to Ravmed (drive & trek) jeep and trek 6 hours 100km
Today we start our drive down to Bartang valley and proceed to a village called Khijez. We reach Khijez village from where we do a hike to Ravmed village. The drive and trek will take about 6 hours. Overnight in a local homestay. B,L,D
DAY 12 Ramved to Jizew to Khorog (trek & drive)
After breakfast, we drive towards the Bartang Valley and begin an adventure that may prove to be your favorite part of the trip. The 4x4s will drop us off at the trailhead to Jizew Valley and we will commence a truly spectacular 3-hour hike to the remote Jizew village. Jizew is renowned for its beautiful and clear lakes. The area is incredibly scenic and is a good place to sample the traditional Pamiri way of life. We will go on a short walk up to some of the higher lakes. After lunch, we hike back towards the main road. Our driver will meet us there and we will continue our journey towards Khorog, one of the main towns along the Pamir Highway, with plenty of photo stops along the way. Our drive and trek will take about 5 hours. In Khorog, we will stay in a comfortable hotel. B,L,D
DAY 13 Khorog to Kalai Khumb 6 hours 240km
In Khorog, we will visit the Ethnographical Museum and Botanical Garden. After lunch, we will drive along Pamir Highway toward Kalai Khumb. Our drive will take about 6 hours over 240 kms. Overnight in a guesthouse. B,L,D
DAY 14 Drive 371 km from Kalai Khumb to Dushanbe
After breakfast, we drive to Dushanbe along the Pang river with amazing views and numerous local villages. Deep rocky valleys and gorgeous mountains accompany you up to the Shurobod Pass before Kulyab. We will have lunch in a Chaikana (local cafes). Our drive will take about 7 hours. Overnight in a hotel in Dushanbe. B,L,D
DAY 15 Fly home
We will take you to the airport to catch your flight home.
TRIP STYLE
This trip is mainly focused on seeing the Pamir mountains and experiencing the local culture combining driving and hiking to allow you to experience the best parts of the Pamir mountains. The day hikes are easy to moderate. You will be staying in hotels, guesthouses and local homestays. Guesthouses and homestays may have limited shower and toilet facilities.

International flights are excluded. Clients must book their own flights. Please send us your flight itineraries by e-email no later than the balance due date.
TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIRED
After making a deposit, you are required to obtain appropriate travel insurance through Global Rescue or other insurance of your choice that should cover at a minimum 100% of the trip cost (land & air), as well as, emergency medical and evacuation. Proof of travel insurance must be provided via electronic mail to equity@browngaltrekker.com no later than the trip balance due date. Failure to obtain travel insurance by the trip balance due date will result in cancellation and no refund of your trip deposit and/or applicable cancellation fees as noted in the Terms & Conditions.
