On April 30, 2016, the idea of trekking the GHT finally came to life. It was the first meeting for the 3 of us who all share the same vision – the intention of completing the 1700 kilometer long high trail of the GHT.
Surprisingly, our plan to trek GHT evolved into adding an element of filmmaking, to wit, capturing one of the member’s dream of going back to his home country of Nepal to complete the GHT. This will be a once in a lifetime documentary. With the skills and talent of our filmmaker member, we aspire to produce a story that will educate people about the various local ethnic groups that inhabit the GHT trail. It is going to be a project that will take a number of years; and even prior to commencing the trip itself, our effort to save financially for the project would mean a number of years as well. But when you are dedicated to the idea, years don’t even sound that long. We know we will be too busy to even notice the length of time it will take us to even set foot in Nepal to start the first leg of the trip. We hardly care about the wait. The getting there in and of itself is a journey and we plan to live each moment fully.
As to the plot, it will tell a personal story of a person born in Nepal who migrated to America in his teens and after almost a decade of being away from his birth country, he now wishes to return and explore his roots and the cultural aspects of the country. It is in essence a return home as he rediscovers himself in the process.
We have yet to title our project and format the first interview but we all are beyond excitement about our commitment to making this project a reality.
